Avilés Fishmarket Refurbishment
[LArULA] .....................................................................

Rula :
Fish Market. Group or company of fishermen to buy and sell fish.

An exceptional place in the entrance of the Aviles harbour, an industrial landscape, between cranes and with the International Centre of Oscar Niemeyer as backdrop.
LArULA it will be the first building with urban presence that you meet when you come in Aviles through the sea, fishermen, sailing ship or the futures cruising boats, that will be soon in the city.

We plan a skin change to the new building linked to his history [fish skin] and to the industrial memory of Aviles [steel].

With this idea, the new façade lands over the fish market getting a new and shining image, in a wink to the maritime past of the building, as fish container linked to the sea.

The new metallic building, like fish scales in the entrance of the harbor and in the middle of a business park without urban reference. Like this, the color appears shyly in the project, remembering the colors of the enviroment, the fishermen nets, the bollards, the original colors of the fishmarket…

The new façade will be built with microperforated steel elements, giving a new image of lightness to the building. We play with four steel elements, of different perforation and brightness, simulating a fish skin.
